Got married recently, been on the microgynon pill for a while now, starting to get bad side effects - depression (foggy like feeling) exhausted all the time even if I've had a lot of sleep or not a lot of sleep. I've tried everything, the main reason I went on it was because my periods were so heavy and painful but now the pill is really affecting me I can't function properly. Need advice does the coil(iud) prevent you from getting pregnant (non hormonal pill) I'm really hesitant in changing but my whole body doesn't function properly with these pills. I don't want really bad pain either, because I will end up collapsing. Need advice somebody help

Yes the IUD is effective non hormonal reversible contraception. If you have heavy and painful periods, I would suggest an IUS ( Mirena or Jaydess ) which have only a very small amount of locally delivered progestogen

I see, so it's not as many hormones as say if you take the microgynon

Just mostly local release of hormone into the womb lining
