Hiya I have been on cerazette for nearly a year now and a week ago rang up for a new prescription but was told I had to get blood pressure done before I could. This meant I couldn't get my pills in time so had to miss 4 days of the pill. I know have them back and will start taking at normal time today, anyone have any idea how long before I am protected again? :)

If you start it on day one of your menstrual cycle (the first day of your period), it will work straight away and you will be protected against pregnancy. You won't need additional contraception.

If you start the progestogen-only pill on day five of your menstrual cycle or earlier (the fifth day after the start of your period or before), you will be protected from pregnancy straight away unless you have a short menstrual cycle (your period is every 23 days or less).

If you have a short menstrual cycle, you will need additional contraception, such as condoms, until you have taken the pill for two days.

If you start the progestogen-only pill on any other day of your cycle, you will not be protected from pregnancy straight away and will need additional contraception until you have taken the pill for two days.
