To be on the safe side I wouldn't chew the tablet, it is very small so it should be ok with a glass of water !

Can you not use the combined pill? As they come in patches which might be easier for you.

Is there a particular reason you are on the mini pill?

Do you smoke?

I was taking the combined at 38 but don't smoke. I stopped as my migraines were getting worse in it.

Have you thought about any other forms of progestogen only contraception, like implant or Mirena coil?

Just in case you can't deal with the tablets.

Ok. That's good.

I understood that if you are 35 or over and smoke you need to switch pills.

It might be worth having another chat with your Gp and seeing if you can try the patches but they are combined contraceptive.

Did you get on ok with the combined pill?

Who can use the combined pill

If there are no medical reasons why you cannot take the pill and you do not smoke, you can take the pill until your menopause. However, the pill is not suitable for all women. To find out whether the pill is right for you, talk to your GP, practice nurse or pharmacist.

You should not take the pill if you:

are pregnant

smoke and are 35 or older

stopped smoking less than a year ago and are 35 or older

are very overweight

take certain medicines (ask your GP about this)

From NHS website about combined pill.
