So, ever since I was about 13 I've been getting uti's like 2 or 3 times a year. When I started having sex at 15 there wasn't any change in how often I got a uti.
However, last year I got a terrible uti that last about 2 months and I was on amoxicillin for about a month and it went away but I still felt discomfort during sex and everything felt off and then I was okay for a bit. Well January if this past year came and I got another uti that never fully went away as my body didn't respond very well to the medication. I had minor uti symptoms flare up every now and then and sex was sometimes uncomfortable. Well, eventually I was put on another medication for my uti and that helped a bit but not a lot. Finally I go on amoxicillin for an ear infection and I felt a lot better, ironically haha. Well, I still feel slight pressure as though I have to pee on occasion.
So I'm sexually active with my boyfriend and I didn't have any severe issues with my uti's until a month after we got back together.
I've been having this issue for a year now and I've had a few sexual partners through that year. What's the chance that my uti issue this past year has something to do with an std? Am I likely to have chlamydia or something else as a cause for this ongoing problem? Every time I've been tested for a uti it's come back as a positive for whatever bacteria would cause a uti, but does that mean anything if there's another underlying issue? I'm worried that maybe ive gotten an std and didn't realize it and the only issue as a result of the std is a uti... how likely is that to be the case? Would anyone I've been with have had any issues at this point?
