bacterial vaginosis

I did not know this could happen to a youngster. My 8 year old granddaughter has just been diagnosed with BV. How can this happen?

It happens because there's an imbalance in the good and bad bacteria in the vagina. It's NOT an sti so please ignore that other persons comment, that's like saying younger kids can't get thrush 😐

It's only similar to an sti in older women because the chances of messing up the bacteria down there are higher because you're having sex.

It could happen by having too many baths or showers, bubble bath or shower gel can upset things down there, I wouldn't worry. It's just something that's happened.

A swab is taken from the vagina and it's tested for BV. Usually you can tell if that's what it is due to weird discharge.

I was told by my doctor it is classes as a sti bevause if onhad it and had sex ny partner can be affecyed by it so there is the sti

Your doctor shouldn't be saying that. I got it during my last pregnancy because pregnant women are more prone to it. Your doctor sounds like a moron.

It's inside, just like any other infection. If you're set on arguing with me I suggest you go and Google it because I'm telling you, it isn't an sti. It's also common in pregnant women, are you suggesting pregnant women go about having unprotected sex? Not sure what your point is or where you learned these things from but I can tell you, you're wrong.

I think the person who's asking is more like a weirdo than anything . Also i suffered from 6 yrs old and today still waiting for prescription now . I understand why it happens it's very painful more so when I was young lifetime suffer .

Wow you really need to educate yourself before making ridiculous comments. Anyone can get BV without having intercourse. It is caused by an imbalance of bacteria and may be a result of washing/bathing with highly scented soaps, wiping the wrong way, wearing tight clothes around that area and some people just generally have the condition. So go educate yourself and get a life you dirty horrible person
