Hey... I'm very ashamed to have contracted Chlamydia from a girl i slept with and need some advice...

(These questions may sound bizarre but my mind is rushing, i'm panicked and scared...)

1) I had no symptoms at all. I've just worked out i had it for a year...Is having no symptoms a good thing? (Not that there's anything good about the situation...) but is being a carrier detrimental to my fertility? I'm 29 and never had any STI's previously...

2) I've been tested and now treated with anti-biotics and this is the weird question... I can't have sex for 7 days, can i masturbate? All i can think about is expelling these horrible bacteria from my body...

3) Will a test in 6 weeks provide an accurate result if i still have it?

4) My partner has it too and i would give my life to make sure i don't give it to her... If the test in 6 weeks proves we're both clear, can we resume having sex?

Sorry and thank you...again, i'm very ashamed and all i can think about is the damage i could've done to myself and the girl i'm falling in love with...

I understand your concern.

a) Chlamydia doesnt show symptoms in most cases. This is test through urine test at a clinic. Once you have contacted, it takes about 3 weeks to give results that are 99.99% accurate. Get your partner tested as well.

Good thing is that chlamydia can be treated by antibiotics. It is always advisable to refrain from sex when you are on treatment. You can masturbate but maintain hygiene.

Post the treatment, always use a condom while having sex. If you and your partner are planning for pregnancy, get checked from your GP.
