Hi I am sore where the foreskin joins the penis. It is red, no sores, spots, and no discharge. I was wondering can anyone give me advice. I work away from home and I am not home until Tuesday next week. I have phoned NHS Direct and they say it doesn't sound like an STI but go to your Gum clinic. But have anyone had anything similar and give me advice. It praying on my mind all the time.

Well without looking it could be any number of things (most of them skin related and not an infection).

The commonest cause of this type of soreness is irritation caused by soaps and shower gels, have you used any new ones?

It's worth getting to a clinic to get checked out but in the meantime if you go soap free and if it's sore try salt baths (bath with a cup of salt in it, or cup of warm water with a teaspoon of salt in it) and soak the area twice a day.
