Preparing for Autism Assesment

Hi. I’m having a private assessment for Autism. Is there anything I need to do to prepare for this? I am thinking of bringing a parent so that they can tell the assessor about my childhood, and also listing things I think are relevant. Is there anything else I can do?

Thank you!

EDIT: Just thought I would update this, in case it helps anyone else ❤️

My therapist thinks this is brilliant! I bought a file full of school reports and a timeline of my life including the good and bad times. They have said to bring this to the assessment as it will really help with my diagnosis.

Consider taking school reports if they comment on behaviour or íf your academic achievements fall well below predictions.

That’s a good idea! Sadly I threw them out years ago 😭 but I do remember what they said (it was the same thing every time🙄)

Maybe add it to your list! Also have you had any work reviews where managers picked up on specific things - eg mine were always recommending time management courses
