Did you know that yesterday was International Self-Care Day? 🧘🏼‍♂️

We often get carried away fighting our daily battles and forget the importance of self-care. Self-care involves taking care of your physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional needs. Taking time for yourself can include paying attention to what's important to you. Taking care of yourself can also have various mental and physical health benefits.

We have compiled a list of self-care ideas below, but you can always create your own!

1. Listen to music

2. Read a book or a magazine for an hour.

3. Take a nap.

4. Take a bubble bath.

5. Eat a nutrient-rich meal.

5. Get outside and appreciate nature.

Please also know that you can always reach out to a team member via the Helpline by calling 0800 995 6037 or by emailing help@ataxia.org.uk.

yesterday while out with my grandson (8) and wife I managed to fall out of my wheelchair! No damage done but being at a National Trust place they got a 1st aider to sort out my gravel rash. Must say I enjoyed the attention!

I do lots of self care so having other care was very welcome.

Were you wearing the seat belt ? My latest wheelchair wasn’t fitted with one ! Take care

I always wear the seatbelt and a hard hat! I had my grandson on my knee and he added to the forward weight and stopped me using my legs as brakes. Sometimes I think my wheelchair can go anywhere, sometimes I am proved wrong.

Yes agree with you about self help.It is easy to lose our way with this awful condition. The important things in life, family, friends and even pets, because they are part of our family too.

I would say taking time to look at the wonder of nature helps me too.

Thank you.
