I was diagnosed with ataxia sca6 in 2018, after 5yrs of problems. Speech in 2015 became difficult and it’s been downhill since. Now I feel that I’ve constant motion sickness, does anyone else have the same problem? Any tips on how to manage gratefully received.

Hi Lilie

I was diagnosed with sca6 in 2019. I’m not sure if there’s one thing that can help but have a look at recommended diet and vitamins for people with ataxia from ataxia uk some of it will help with dizziness.

Take care my friend.

Thank you for your reply. I also have type 1 diabetes and an ileostomy due to colon cancer 7yrs ago, so my diet is challenging.

I was diagnosed with ideopathic cerebellar Ataxia in February 2020. I feel dizzy all the time. There was a time when I felt nauseous, so I used those elasticated bands that go on your wrists. It seems to have passed now though. Touch wood!

I have Vestibular problems myself but so far not motion sickness.

🤔 It’s possible you could benefit from Vestibular Therapy…ask your GP for a referral

I don't have motion sickness but do eat reasonably healthily and take a few vitamins. I do know that there's no 'one size fits all ' cause we're all different but you may be lacking in certain vitamins due to your ataxia & other ailments too? I do know that vitamin B12 is a biggie & coenzyme Q10 can also be, so as Paul456 said, it might be worth looking into. Speak to your GP & neurologist & other specialists that you may see, to see if they can advise.
