I have had episodes of vertigo for the last 12 years now. But they weren't very often. Recently they have increased in occurrence. They seem to happen when I get tired - even just a little tired rather than exhausted! I'm getting them several times per week now and they really are debilitating! I feel very dangerous when moving around, even though I always use either my two walking sticks or four wheeled rollater .
Does anyone else suffer from these?
Xx

I can certainly relate to what you wrote about vertigo.
I have Cerebellar Ataxia, and my vertigo episodes started around the time of my diagnosis. The vertigo is certainly worse during periods of extreme weather and uncertainty over my stability and balance.
I do see the vertigo as being connected with - though I dislike the phrase - my mental health, as much as the Ataxia. In fact I see my Ataxia symptoms and my mental health as being very intertwined. Which is to acknowledge that the Ataxia is a very real and serious condition which would still be a massive limit on my life, even if I had perfect mh.
Hi, I totally agree that our mental health affects the ataxia - but I think it would for any illness! I have managed to get most of my anxiety under control and I take antidepressants for my depression, which I have no intention of stopping! Both are related to having ataxia - I never had any mental health problems before,🤷🏼♀️. Take care xx
I’ve lived with varying degrees of vertigo for about 30 years and before my Ataxia diagnosis it wasn’t properly managed.
My neurologist asked my go to refer me to a local neurological rehabilitation physiotherapist for my balance and this has helped immensely as long as I continue with the exercises regularly (3 x weekly).
I’ve also seen an audiologist for my eye movements.
I should point out that I haven’t reverted to walking aids but I’m sure that with rehabilitation a therapist should be able to help.
I do exercises regularly for my balance including working on a screen with games on it which is controlled by the pressure from my feet. This machine definitely helps me to fall less. Obviously I'm more dangerous and likely to fall when I have vertigo so during the episodes I try not to move about too much and when I do I take all the precautions that I can!
I have SCA3 and had vertigo that started out every 6 months then progressed to every month. I started taking 5 mg of THC Indica gummies to help me sleep and haven’t had an episode since. It’s been 4 months.
THC indica gummies! Do you live in the states? I live in France and legally we can only get CBD gummies, which I daren't take as I had cancer a few years ago xx
