MRI for Cerebellar degeneration and back pain - ... - Ataxia UK
MRI for Cerebellar degeneration and back pain - anyone else experienced uncontrollable tremors!
I get really bad back pain I put it down to the fact that I walk in a twisted manner so this will put added pressure on knees, hips and back, not too sure if anything can be done about it but having back pain will make it harder to lie still for long periods of time.
I suppose if you need to do anything like that again maybe take pain killers.
If you feel stressed and tense this will make it worse so try and relax and take deep breaths.
Or maybe half a bottle of vodka may help Lol.
Good to hear from you.
Take care and he happy.

Hi Paul Thankyou so much for getting in touch I can so relate and thought the same wear and tear from walking great advice about pain killers next time I really wasn’t expecting it to be soooo painful but as we do chin up and smile eh take care I wish you all the best my friend xx
Hi, I have tremors daily. I also have dystonia, this makes the muscles tight and spasm can be painful. My gene study found a fault on the PNKD gene, but specialists are not sure if that is my diagnosis. I have Tarlov cysts too, which are a problem too, to all that have them and only two specialists to treat them in the UK. Ask your doctor about dystonia if you have tight muscles and about your tremors, if you have not.Best wishes Suzie
Hi Susie44na I’m sorry to hear of your complexed condition sounds challenging I will speak to my doctors Thankyou so much for your advice I wish you all the very best my friend take care x
i don't know if this will help you, but i have to be put under general anaesthesia for mri's because of uncontrollable movements. perhaps the next time you get an mri, you could tell them about the tremors and they could knock you out for it?
you might not need to go completely under; even mild sedation could help you get through it. the only reason i have to go completely under is to paralyse my body so i can't move and they can get the images (i have dystonia). that's where they give you the IV and breathing tube down the throat.
I've had difficulties undergoing mri's for over 10 years, and undergo them 1/2 a year. I have to do it face down due to vertigo, very uncomfortable. But at the same time I find them relaxing.
For your situation maybe explain your issue with your GP prior to your next mri and ask them to prescribe you a xanex, or the like. It might help relax your muscles/nerves. I also use meditation breathing exercises to relax.
