Muscle pain

Can I ask how people are treating your muscle pain? I have been trying to get outdoor work and painting done to spend more time with the kids when they finish school. My legs are sore. It doesn't take much activity to get to this point. Been this way since I developed ataxia. Massaging my leg muscles in the evening does help a bit. Anyone used tiger balm for this?

My husband with Parkinson's has terrible muscle and nerve pain. He has tried many things and been prescribed 4 different types of pain killer (including gabapentin) but they either made no difference, or he is unable to tolerate them. The only thing that helps a bit is magnesium oil spray - he uses the one by Better You

I have nerve pain down one side. Was prescribed Lyrica but never took it, too many potential side effects. I take a Holland and Barrett magnesium supplement daily. I will look up the spray. Thanks. Christ I can't afford to have a disability with all these supplements.

I know, tell me about it, I spend so much on all hubby's supplements (which he hates taking) & who knows which, if any, are doing any good. The thing is, can we afford for him to stop taking them?Thinking I may need to add Taurine as well as COQ10 and Vitamin E as per Meekster and isabelalfaiate.

My radioncologist prescribed me 1000iu of vit e about 10 years ago. Last week I started buying my supplements for Amazon. The products in pharmacy seem poor value for money and are low doses. Started taking coenzyme q10 recently, gingko biloba, vit d (supposably good for minimizing effect of covid), plus all the meds I am prescribed. Going to get a higher level of magnesium, been reading that its good for muscle repair. The Ataxia Foundation Ireland recommended to me to take coenzyme q10 and vit e.

I know how you feel. Very frustrating. A friend of mine advised me to try taurine. They use it in energy drinks. I buy it online at the body & fit store. Apparently body builders use it too. It works great for me to prevent my leg cramps. It’s not a pain killer. I was hesitant to try it but it made a huge difference for me. I know every body works differently but it’s worth a try. Good luck to you!

I had been using whey powder for my muscles. I think I will give taurine a go instead. Thanks

What is the best form to be taking the taurine in? And I'm not on about whether you are in good form or bad form. 😜

I use 1 to 2 capsules of 500mg a day depending on how much I move/exercise. I also use magnesium (like the dr. ordered) but it doesn’t give me the help I need. Hope it works for you. 😊

I am going to look into the taurine, looks beneficial. I was advised on here to take Coq10, Vit E and Gingko Biloba, this has made a real positive impact. I really pushed myself beyond my capacity in the past couple of days on the garden, and on my feet but I really don't feel all that bad, a little brain fog and muscle tightness. When I say 'pushed myself' I don't mean really heavy manual work, more trying to improve stamina. I appreciate that in terms of what the acquired ataxia allows me to do is a great deal more than others with ataxia. The only medical advice I was given was get enough rest, don't smoke. I did spend 3 months in a brain injury transitional unit back in 2009 which enabled me to live on my own.

I am prescribed 1000iu of Vitamin E and have Coq10 and Magnesium for past 6 or 8 weeks but the muscle pain and associated brain fog still remain, but less severe.
