Hi all just wondering if anyone has any ideas what this could be, or having it themselves?
I have idiopathic C/A, my mobility is very limited so I don’t get out very much & I suppose the only exercise I get is from walking around the house which isn’t very much to be honest!
I’ve started having really bad pain in the top of my groin mostly just in the right side but very occasionally the left, from the muscle, it wakes me up at night & most of the time when it does I can’t move my leg at all, so have to hook it in both my arms to lift it up, either to try turn over or sit on the edge of the bed for a bit, then try rub it & take a few steps up & down the side of the bed. They sent me for a scan on my lymph nodes & all are fine but I’ve no idea what’s causing this pain & it’s driving me mad! Has or does this happen to anyone else?

I cannot help though I have to walk or exercise or my hip hurts! I use Ibruprofen gel on restless legs at night. Big relief. I wonder if that might help the pain?
Let me know how you get on? I think mine are caused by magnesium deficiency, there may be other reasons but I stopped having a banana and a magnesium tablet every day for a couple of months and it has now returned. I also don't realise just how painful it is until the pain stops!! Magnesium gel has also helped but it is horribly sticky.
I’ve been taking paracetamol & ibruprofen in a morning & night but unfortunately it’s not touched it😞
Thank you for the advice tho-anything is appreciated! Glad it’s helping you with your legs, my husband has restless legs so I can imagine how you must feel with them
Yes, I get a lot of pain sometimes in my left groin. Its excruciating at time and lasts for a few days. I was told it was just a strain. I think it starts off if I make a quick awkward movement. I end up walking with a stiff leg so as not to aggravate it.
Mine happens mostly during the night when I’m asleep or if I’m watching telly, there seems to be no reason why it happens but as you say the pain is excruciating.
When I had arthritis in my hip, I didn't know it - I only had pain in my groin area and thought I had somehow injured my groin. A doctor friend of mine noticed it when we were hiking and suggested it was "referral pain" from the hip. Yep. That was it. Have you had an Xray done of your hip?
Thanks for your reply. No I haven’t but I’ve got an appointment with the gp on Thursday & so will mention it to him, someone else replied that their groin pain was down to the hip & I do suffer with osteoarthritis in other areas so it sounds like this could possibly be the case!
