Ataxia is not contagious. It can only be passed genetically. It would have to be inherited either directly from a parent who has the condition themselves, or in a Recessive way, which would mean both parents are carriers but remain unaffected themselves.

You can inherit a genetic ataxia from either a dominant gene from one parent (autosomal dominant disorder) or a recessive gene from each parent (autosomal recessive disorder).3 Jun 2020

I have inheried through my father. He had gene mutation. I only know its progressive and s getting worse so when I look someone wobbly on feet i get scared. Maybe not getting married in Ataxia is better. Ratheer than, giving it to your children

Some people prefer to take a 50/50 chance on whether a child would be affected. Others choose to have Preimplantation Testing.

Preimplantation testing

Preimplantation testing, also called preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD), is a specialized technique that can reduce the risk of having a child with a particular genetic or chromosomal disorder. It is used to detect genetic changes in embryos that were created using assisted reproductive techniques such as in-vitro fertilization. In-vitro fertilization involves removing egg cells from a woman’s ovaries and fertilizing them with sperm cells outside the body. To perform preimplantation testing, a small number of cells are taken from these embryos and tested for certain genetic changes. Only embryos without these changes are implanted in the uterus to initiate a pregnancy.

An informative paragraph. But in developing countries like Pakistan we dont have PGD'S and i havent really heard that someone has tried. Maybe there are less patients of this. However if ur suffering from one disease its not suitanle to destroy ur offsping. I have made my mind i'll not get married or destroy my children life. Having online friends s enough
