Living in a maisonette/flat

Hello

I have spinal ataxia and live in a maisonette on the 2nd floor (no lift). I have been using home delivery services for my supermarket shopping. Today me and my 8yr old had to go and collected the shopping from the delivery driver as she said they are no longer allowed to enter the communal area. I just want to know if there are any other people that live in maisonettes or flats that have experienced this? This is not the first time someone has refused to deliver. When I had bad nerve pain running down my leg I ordered a takeaway from UberEats and the driver took my food back to the restaurant when I couldn't meet him road side to collect. However this is the first time I have had this with ASDA.

Eveie.

I would say, contact your Asda Store to get confirmation of what the delivery driver told you, maybe she didn’t want to walk up two floors..... explain to them you are partially disabled, and you have a young child..... hope this suggestion helps

Thanks I will contact them for clarity. I understand them not wanting to do the stairs (I don't either 😅) but if I knew before, I would have got someone to help, a neighbour? 🙂

that doesn't sound right at all. I have groceries delivered and am on the 3rd floor. I sit and the driver comes in with my shopping wearing a mask. Shame about that

That's what I thought 😕 but wanted to hear other people's experiences. Thanks x

I have had this happen three times during my shielding (I have copd/emphysema and live on the fourth floor), Asda, Amazon and the Co-op, with the Asda driver he told me that he had instructions not to enter the building (yet he wasn't wearing gloves or a mask), I emailed Asda about this and was told that they had given their drivers the option not to enter the building if they felt unsafe, I have had many deliveries since with no problems, Asda did give me priority delivery slots til December and a £10 voucher to say sorry.

So I agree with Don, contact Asda and explain your circumstances I am sure they will understand and be sympathetic

So far Amazon, sainsbury's and Tesco's have been fine about it but we were given a recurring slot with asda so I use them. This has been the only time a driver has refused to deliver so I will take Don's advice and contact them. Thanks x
