I am one of the patients in this study. I saw the neurolgist today who said my gym is definitely helping. I passed all the tests, in fact did very well, my memmory is good and they told me that I am the same as four years ago, have not lost any faculty and I take no medicine, just vimtanin E and magnesium for cramps. I fee, great and believe a positive attitude is responsible for this. I crochet all day.

EU study on ataxia
Hi in glad things are holding up for you. Can you tell me what ataxia you have please?
I have SCA 3 Machado Joseph disease
I have SCA 3 too; I’m from México and i have 36 years, wath can I do? I take citalopram 40 mg, do you Know something else??? Please help
Hi Adribegon, I take no medicine besides supplements - Vitamins E, D3, C and magnesium Ergymag which includes various vitamins B. Besides that I saw an homepath and take his medicine and do shiatsu. I am 66, was diagnosed at 60 but showed symptoms from 52. In 2009 was told to get a wheelchair, but I am still walking around unaided, except arm in arm with someone when walking outdoors. Inside the house, I have no problem. I do exercise at a gym everyday and found that has helped more than fisiotherapy. My SCA3 was late onset. I live in Portugal and a neurolgist from the university hospital follows me, but I find they monitor what is happening only and do all sorts of tests and have only prescribed vitamin E.
very encouraging .. what strength magnesium do you take?
Congratulations! So encouraging to know how much exercise and a positve attitude helps ataxia! May you enjoy continued success! My best to you..., ;o)
Well done Isabel, congratulations on your success. Keep up the hard work (exercises) and positive attitude ❤️

That gives me tremendous hope. I really want to join a gym but financially it is noy possible - I make enough to just cover my bills. I am self employed.
