Hi My main issue with the coughing and swallowing problems we have tended to be with appples. The main reason I have them is for fibre as they tend to be the best thing to keep me regular sorry TMI. I found that eating apples standing up has resulted in my having fewer coughing through eating them. Not sure if standing up gives the apples a more direct route into my stomach. Does this help anyone else? Try it with the food that makes you cough the most and let me know.

😋 I love Russet apples Louise, I can manage eating them if they’re cut into thin slices, but biting into one is a no-no because I have a fixed brace top and bottom 🙄
You might get the same amount of fibre with cloudy Apple Juice 🤔
thank you for suggestion. My coughing starts when I lie down.. not just on my back but also on my side either on recliner or in bed. I can only stop by turning onto my tummy.
I find raw apples make my stomach bloat but I do microwave bramley apples with sultanas and cinnamon . I have spoonful of prunes on my oats in the morning too,
