Dear all

Those of you who were at the Ataxia UK Annual Conference this weekend (and what a great conference it was!) will have seen be step down as Chairman after seven years-I had been a Trustee for three years before that. I have said goodbye to the Board but certainly not to Ataxia UK. I will continue to moderate this forum, work on the Helpline and various other things. I am afraid you can’t get rid of me that easily!

It has been a total privilege to be Chairman of Ataxia UK. A huge thank you to everyone for their kind words. I can’t quite believe how many of them there have been! I am feeling quite overwhelmed at the moment and I don’t think it has really sunk in yet.

The photo is the painting the Board gave to me as a leaving gift. It shows my dog Alfie who is a chocolate Labrador. It was painted from a photo of him by a very talented artist called Holly Hipwell who has FA. An incredibly thoughtful gift that I absolutely love!

Aww.. you took it all very well Harriet.. you are such an inspiration to everyone.. HollyI is a member of our group. She doesnt attend meetings but her Mum keeps in touch by email and appreciates my newsletters. I love the picture .. so pleased you are still involved and promise to make more effort to contribute to Health Unlocked. With Simone's help, I now have my daily email to remind me. Take care x
