Hi, I have noticed that for the last month or so my throat feels constricted or that something is pressing on the front of it. I can swallow ok but it seems harder to do. is it just part of having ataxia. Many thanks

It may be but I think mine was partly the stroke as well
My swallowing is also okay but the sensation of constriction ia more from the back of the throat. In my case anyway, this is ataxia. XXXN
🙂 It may not necessarily be associated with ataxia, it can't harm to have this checked by your doctor 🙂xB
I have read through your previous post to check on the tests you have had - cannot see any extra ones. Have you considered having B12 tested - if low in range can be the cause of many neurological signs and symptoms - see the link below and scroll down .... As detailed by Sally Pacholok in her book - Could it Be B12 ? - a B12 result below 500 can present with neurological issues.

You could also be suffering from Low Thyroid - again rarely correctly tested within the NHS and so many sufferers are missed.
Also read up on the Vagus nerve which has an interesting role in the body including the gag reflex
I have Hashimotos - Auto-immune Thyroid - a B12 issue due to surgery - Crohns - and now suffering with balance issues. I have weekly B12 injections - am gluten free and take thyroid hormones along with a tray full of supplements It is a journey .....
Why Isn't My Brain Working - by Dr Datis Kharrazian - another excellent source of information. He has a website and Newsletter .
Many thanks for your replies, think I might go to the doctor to get this checked out as I have had my throat checked as I have had a cough for nearly 14yrs and the ENT consultant couldn't see anything wrong apart from a slightly inflamed voice box.
