Happy Easter all!

Has anyone got any experiences of Permanent Health Insurance (PHI) that they can share? I have had Cerebellar Ataxia for nearly 20 yeas and have now got to the stage when I would like to retire early (I am 55) and take PHI.

Thanks

How are you getting on? I think of you often. My husband dislocated his elbow on Saturday and is in a cast and can't do anything for weeks and I was feeling really stressed yesterday morning trying to wrap his cast in a bin bag and taping it up so he could shower, putting lamb leg in crockpot and it wouldn't fit so trying to saw off bone but wasn't strong enough (put it in oven eventually and it was fine) walking dog and all other things as we had 8 for lunch - one of our sons came and helped - the moral of all this is just always ask for help if you need - my love and very kindest thoughts are with you always

Thanx for asking. I ,it seems, am doing everything wrong. I am not getting on with life; I am consumed with guilt; I haven't yet opened my own bank account; I avoid people; I might have to move--a thought I find incomprehensible; I don't know if my rapid devolvement is the result of sitting too much or the nature of the condition. The only good thing is that my brother found a really nice woman to live with me. But I let her take over so I do almost nothing. xxx N

Dear Neta, I don't there can be any 'right' way of dealing with what you are going through, so please don't even think about it. It is such early days ,ataxia on it's own is bad enough. I think it is really good to talk to a helpline of some sort. I am not sure whether ataxia UK or British Heart Foundation. Although they can't take your pain away, they can give you good advice on where to start trying to sort out other things in your life, which will help. The grieving process will take as long as it takes.

My kindest thoughts, Amanda xxxx

I have it. I guess I was "lucky" in that my employer gave it to me. I didn't even know it was an option. I get 2/3rds of my salary for 5 years. It means I don't have to stress about money as well as being terminal.
