It seems that stem cell therapy seems to be all the rage at the moment. Is there anywhere in the UK doing any work in this area? Specifically MS OR Ataxia but, anything more would be useful.

Stem cells
Hi Scruffycat😊
ataxia.org.uk have information on their site relating to stem cell therapy and ataxia.
I was surprised to find it was reasonably positive, in certain circumstances.

A friend of my family is a doctor, but not a specialist in Ataxia. Several months ago, I talked with him about Ataxia. The topic of stem cell treatments came-up. He told me that, from what he has read, in the treatment of certain types of Ataxia, some of the research seems to be very promising. But, he also stressed that most of the stem cell treatments are either very new, or experimental, so that there may be serious unknown side-effects, as well as individual, and long-term, variations in the effectiveness of the treatment. So, he said that anyone considering having any kind of stem cell treatment needs to first do a lot of investigating into the medical research pertaining to that specific type of stem-cell treatment. He also urged getting more than one medical expert opinion before deciding on having such a treatment. In a time when there are so many medical scams, I think that his advice was very wise.
Hi all, have any of you heard of Cerebrolysin, this is something similar to stem cells, but not used widely and still experimental? Has anyone had it yet?
