Vitamin e: Has anyone with severe ataxia symptoms... - Ataxia UK
Vitamin e

I have read about a type of Ataxia linked to vitamin e.........I guess it can't hurt. I am dosing my partner up on B vitamins and Q10 as I read this can alleviate symptoms. I may have to add Vitamin E to the list now...
I am currently taking vitamin e in liquid form for 3 months following a new blood test (via Prof Hadjivasilliu in Sheffield). As l also had normal levels when diagnosed back in 2003. Why does it alter? Is it not absorbed in Ataxia patients?
It seems to be helping my balance & cramp in legs, as research has shown me that low vit e can have an adverse effect on some symptoms. Although I do know too much can be harmful (overdose). As for cramp, I've been told that tonic water (quinine) & bananas (potassium) can help.
Anyway, I also take a raft of other medicines & 'over the counter' vitamins partly on recommendation. These include CoQ10, vitamin B complex etc to try & help myself.
I often wonder what I'd be like if I didn't exercise, eat healthily and take vitamins.
Ataxia won't beat me. I do all I can to help myself. I do try & stay positive too.
Sorry for rambling. I do hope the Vitamin E helps other symptoms too such as my nystagmus. Time will tell.
Keep positive.
I don't honestly know but perhaps 3 weeks or so.
