Knee Replacement

Hi I am wondering if anyone has been through my same situation. I have chronic lung disease and have 4 weekly mepo injections and I am a type 2 diabetic (steroid induced)controlled with medication. I also have osteoarthritis now bone on bone on my right knee and it needs replacing. I have been steroid dependent for over 15 years now. I am currently on 7.5 mg of prednisone. Has anyone had a knee replacement being on this amount of steroids and being a type 2 diabetic please. I have read the steroids can prevent healing after this operation. If anyone has had this in same circumstances I would really appreciate feedback please. Thank you. Sharron

Hi I have COPD and asthma accompanied with osteoporosis and heart issues I shattered my leg and ankle 2 years ago they were more concerned about the anaesthetic than anything else. Im sure they will discuss everything with you beforehand and knee replacements are complicated. Weigh up everything and talk to your consultant etc about your worries make a list. Steroids didnt stop healing process my leg n wounds which were large healed fine I do have a bit nerve damage in my foot they offered to take pins and plates out after 2 years but looking at x-ray its like a bionic leg inside so will keep them. Im up I can walk ok so will live with it. Good luck with what you decide.
