Good Morning Everyone,

Started out with minor sinus issues and not feeling well to a full blown asthma exacerbation and bronchitis. Went to PCP gave me a shot of solu Medrol and a prescription of prednisone 20 mg one twice a day for 3 days then one tab for 2 more days and antibiotics. I also take Flovent , Flonase, Claritin , Mucinex and Levalbuterol. Today is day 4 and cough seems to be getting better . This had never happened to me. Last year I had terrible issues with panusinusitis and cough went to allergist diagnosed mold allergy. My PCP wasn’t very informative as to how to proceed after I finish the medications so this made me very anxious. Am debating where to go to the allergist this week he does take care of asthma or try to get an appt with an pulmonologist . Should I be doing anything different or does anybody have any suggestions that could help me till I can get to see somebody else . I would greatly appreciate it. This really scared me because in a split second you can’t breathe and if you are not educated as to what to do it makes matters worse. I hope everybody has a great Sunday . Blessings to all !

Asthma doctor definitely. You should get an asthma plan so that you know what to do in an emergency; from what emergency treatment to take and how often to what to do if that doesn't work. The plan is designed for you and your needs.

That's just for starters. If this was your first asthma crisis then your treatment package should be reviewed so that you have the relevant rescue meds.

The doctor should be able to run blood tests for allergies.

Given your nasal allergies ask about aspirin sensitivity as this is common in asthmatics with nasal rhinitis and it means you need to avoid wet inhalers and certain foods.

Good luck.
