I noticed that Symbicort made my voice hoarse. My doctor gave me a plastic extender for the inhaler and when I use that it helps this problem. I don't know if other inhaled medications cause this and I am trying to find out if it is safe to use my albuterol nebulizer while I have laryngitis?

There are 48 compatible spacers for use with "Symbicort 200micrograms / dose / 6micrograms / dose pressurised inhaler (AstraZeneca UK Ltd) "

This is for the PRESSURISED inhaler and not the Symbicort® Turbohaler® !
My horse throat is through coughing. Now on Fostair will see how that goes. I have had the plastic tube for years as I was getting a really soar tongue from puffing my inhaler! 🙀
I’ve finally got a referral to ENT to check out my ongoing throat issues. I regularly lose my voice, constantly have a hoarse throat and take painkillers every morning for it. In the last year it has got a lot worse due, I think, to increased usage of steroid inhalers. I have to spacer and I try and gargle as much as I can after using any inhaler, but that’s easier said than done. Oh and I teach fitness classes and talk all day long in my job 😂 so there may be nothing I can do about it or there may be further underlying problems. But if I get any good hints and tips I will pass them on. 👍
I find garging with salt water - after using inhaler (fostair) and nasofan - is more effective than just tap water on its own.
