Hi I'm Jian. 60 years old & have had asthma for 20 years. Up until now, fairly well controlled. Then got hit with this coughing virus which is doing the rounds beside us. Over weekend symptoms deteriorated a lot. Had carry on getting to see someone at surgery today. Long story short, very wheezy, coughing myself silly. Given double strength Flutiform inhaler & 5 days of steroids.

The steriods should help you feel better. However, you have to take great care of yourself. There are a huge number of posts here from people with one infection after another and no-one seems to have any idea how to proceed. I would suggest that if you do get another infection - and I do hope you don't - you ask your GP for the strongest antibiotic and take it for longer than usual. It might work - who knows? I do worry that people are being given cheaper medication than they need, but that may be because I'm a worrier!

Look after yourself first.
