Hi

My daughter has terrible angry rash on face and torso after xolair (about 90mins after inj) along with other side effects. They now give her antihysts and increased steroids as they give injection, and again 6hourly for the first 24-48hrs. She still gets it but the pain of the rash isn't there so can't be as angry.

I hope it goes well

Hi Emily35, long time 'no see'!! How is you little girl now? sorry, I can't remember her age. My son (18 now!) improved greatly with Xolair. His school attendance improved and he was able to resume some sport. He's at university now, coping ok but asthma still troublesome.

Hope you are doing well. xx

Hi Angievere,

Yes long time. Couldn't get the hang of the new forum lol!!

Maddie is now 7. She's on xolair fortnightly but v troubled by severe side effects of swelling, wheeze and rash. She stays in for couple days each time..so two days in hosp every fortnight, bless her. She's a trooper though, and inspirational. I think all these asthma kiddies are. Along with the asthma grown ups too ;-)

Lovely to hear from you Emily. Sorry about Maddie's side effects but hope her asthma is better for the injections. Son was transferred to Lung Physician team when he was 17 and Xolair was the last treatment they could offer. He improved within a couple of months, we were so pleased. Went to University (fortunately only 25 miles away) in Oct and has coped ok so far.

He's a trooper too, done so well despite ill health. Had to put up with a lot but never complained.

I find the forum quite different to how it used to be. MUCH prefer the old one. But always grateful to Asthma UK for the research etc.

My husband is running the London Marathon in aid of Asthma UK and I am going as a helper!! We wanted to give something back. Best wishes, Angie xx

Paula, really hope you feel perkier soon. Are you continuing with steroids and anti hysts?? Let me know what doctor says.

Angievere, well done to you and your husband re raising funds for auk. It's an amazing charity.

Also wonderful news re your son and the success of xolair enabling him to have a near normal life and manage uni. You must be so proud.

This is the last treatment option for Maddie too. After being on maintenance steroids daily since she was 2yrs, her little body needs to be mended. Her consultant had said he wants to keep trying with it as we really need it to work!!

Lovely to be back on here :-)) xx

Oh I really hope that things improve for you. I think we pin so many hopes on xolair to mend things..it's a worry when it doesn't go to plan isn't it.

Maddies currently asleep in hospital following her injection at lunchtime today.

Take care
