I have allergic asthma and I was on Xolair for three years. My doctor recently switched me to Dupixent to see if it's a better fit (I was still having flares on Xolair).
My asthma has worsened quite a bit during the transition and I'm wondering if anyone else has changed between the two medicines and how it went and how they handled switching between the two meds.
Thanks so much,
Hilary

After a fantastic original response to Xolair, I’ve started having flares again too, so am being considered for a possible swap to Dupixent. But it’s complicated because I have bronchiectasis and aspergillosis (ABPA) too, so they never know which lung condition is really causing the problem. Is asthma your only diagnosis? ABPA can mimic asthma
I have been tested for ABPA and it was negative but that was a few years ago. I should ask my pulm about it at our next appt. I have severe allergic asthma and I think Xolair was working pretty well but my new pulm wanted me to try Dupixent so we'll see how that goes. For now my main side effect after the first shots (an accidental double dose bc the pharmacist messed up, eek!) is fatigue.
I had a terrible reaction to it--really severe shortness of breath--and went back on Xolair after just a month trying Dupixent. Apparently it's a pretty common reaction but my pulmonologist hadn't mentioned it as a possibility which was frustrating. Are you taking it? It does work miracles in some people!!
