I get this, although not a huge amount of blood. With me it's my sinuses playing up which they are at the moment with the cold weather.

It also gives me a soreness around the eyes and a slight headache. I find a hot shower helps.

Sometimes if I cough to hard I get a nose bleed. Not so often as I used to. It's more of an annoyance than anything else with blood dripping everywhere till I find a tissue.

Morning all. Yes, I also have a stuffy nose in the mornings and bloody bits in my tissue when I blow, but I was told that the constant flow oxygen blasting 24/7 up my nose is the culprit. I read somewhere here that a light smeer of Cuticura antiseptic ointment inside the nostrils at bedtime keeps the delicate lining soft and helps to heal any raw spots. I must say, I've only been doing this for a week or so and already my nostrils aren't quite so tough as old boot leather any more.

As for hot/cold/steamy air, I seem to cope easier in cooler weather - the heat and humidity of summer (or shower cubicle, for that matter) just seems to suck all the oxygen out of the air and exhausts me to the point where my knuckles drag on the ground.

Keep your chins above the fog.

Leonie ((hugs))

I sometimes have streaks of blood in my nose mucous and at other times I have a "proper" nose bleed. Like Leone I was told this is common for oxygen users. However, there can be many other causes and it may pay you to mention it at your next medical appointment.

I'm not on oxygen so I'm stumped where its coming from x

Hi

Nasal problems are commonly linked to lung conditions. The nasal passages easily get inflammed - the capilliaries carrying blood are near the surface in the nose - so quite easy for them to rupture and leave streaks of blood in the mucous - trying to clear the nose doesn't help - oxygen dries the airways which again can cause the blood vessels in the nose to break. Certainly worth speaking to your GP about it next time you see him/her- particularly if there are untreated nasal issues. But if there are large amounts of blood regularly perhaps worth speaking to the GP sooner rather than later.

If the blood was coming from your chest it wouldn't be coming via your nose.

As ever call the Helpline - 03000 030 555 - to have a chat over anything that worries you.

Hope that helps

Mark

Medics involved if airway veins rupture in the lung called hemoptysis comes about coughing same way as nose bleed, hear the warning pass symptoms to medical team they need to know what you see.

Hi no I haven't changed meds but been given 30 mg steroids for infection but usually take 7 mg a day for long term can come off steroids because I go right down again with bad flare ups but that's the only difference to my meds .

It could be the steriods themselves, I would phone my surgery nurse she who deals with COPD and see what she says. :0)

Just as we bruise so much more easily (i am informed because of the inhalers Symbicort etc.) I think that a little nose seepage comes with the package.

If you are not on Mucodyne 375mg caps already ask your Doctor if you can try them, they are great at keeping nasal passages clear, and no side affects that I have noticed!

Hi all need some info I have got mild copd but the last few weeks I have had streaks of blood when I blow my nose I am not on any medications for copd just wondering if this could be something g else ?

Hi there. See your post was placed two years ago. Don't see that anyone replied or responded. Can you tell me if you received any feedback from anybody because I have the exact same thing happening to me from this past week.
