PEs and COPD
i have copd and emphysema doctor said never will you get better ,
Sorry Julia, I have no idea as to the answer to your question. Just wanted to say I hope you feel better soon. x
Julia, you should contact your doctor as soon as possible. You can develop something called pulmonary hypertension after a PE, the symptom of which is difficulty breathing, but it's pretty rare. In any case, if you are only recently clear of the PE it can take some while before you return to normal.
I had PEs a number of years ago, spent 9 days in the hospital after being given a powerful "clot buster" drug, and it probably took me at least a month before I got my strength back fully.
Hi AbbyRudi, I only came out of hospital last thursday, i too was in for 9 days but i seem to be worse than ever for breathing now just the slightest thing makes me short of breath, its worse when i have just got up like now i feel as if i have run a mile , how ling should i wait before i see the doctor about it Thanks Julia xxx
Hi Julia,
I'd ask for a telephone consultation to discuss your symptoms and explain how you feel.
I don't have COPD (my husband does) and was otherwise healthy, but the PEs really exhausted me for quite some time afterwards. It shocked me because I thought once the clots were cleared I'd snap back very quickly, but that wasn't the case.
