Morning all on this beautiful morning, just had a very high dose of steroids reduced to a a very small dosage. Can i now expect the large tummy(side effect, water retention)to reduce also, otherwise the large man's shop in Nottingham is gonna get a visit.

I always found it did not all go so over time got bigger, but I have not had any steroids for over 18 months and I have lost over 2 stones, don't know if it is co-incidence.

I am afraid my tummy didn't go back to normal but I have been taking pred for over 40 years. The one thing I didn't get was the moon face, as it's sometimes referred to!

I did however get osteoporosis and skin like paper! But they say if I hadn't taken it I would have been in a wheelchair many years ago.

Tks Mocarey, didn't get the moon face either but got the skin like paper, will have to look up osteoporosis, don't know wot that is.

osteporosis is brittle bones jacktar,i have been on steroids ,all my adult life, but constant round about 10 yrs + and i have not lost the round tummy, although i lost 2 and half stone doing weightwatchers last year, unfortunatly i do have the moon face, and thin skin also, but every one is different ,i also have muscle wasting, due to the steriods, although i,m working on that one,

Tks poeticlady, just googled osteporosis, can't add that one to my list(yet!!)As you say, everyone is different,i suppose we just have to be thankful for what we do have, especially on a glorious day like today, hope it's the same where you are.

Still got mine and I eat very healthily, I also have osteoporosis, depression, thyroid problems as well as copd. What next I ask myself.xx

I still got mine but my skin has improved. I use Doublebase cream daily on prescription from my doctor. It is a moisturiser and bulks up the skin a bit. Still bruises but doesn't tear so easily. Hope this helps Carole

When my mum came off the steroids, her previous weight gain disappeared within weeks. She dropped over a stone in weight and 2 clothes sizes within a matter of weeks and went back to the weight she had been all her adult life.

I suspect that if the gain really was due to steriods (rather than doughnuts) then the loss will happen too.

Tks cathy,it definately isn't doughnuts, just have to keep me finger's x'd and stop looking in the mirror for a while, take care,Mike.
