ring the BLF helpline 03000 030 555 ask for a benifit advisor, they will help complete a claim form.
I don't think you should have been turned down either Ann, as stone suggests the BLF helpline may be able to guide you on this. I think you should definitely appeal. Auntymary xx
It certainly doesn't sound right. Seems you have conditions which would both effect your care and mobility. Ann you might want to get some advice from a benefits expert. You can get advice from BLF, Welfare Rights, CAB or DIAL. Most will come to your home and fill in the forms with you. It will take a lot of pressure away from you. They are used to filling them in. Please don't give up. If you are turned down these organisations will usually appeal. You have plenty to deal with. Good luck.
We have a benefit adviser on the helpline today, who will be happy to discuss any issues you have. We do not help fill in the forms over the phone, but we can guide you in the right direction.
I understand your plight. I too have Arthritis, I have the Rheumatoid Arthritis, degenerative disk disease, I have a mobility scooter and I am not as severe at walking as you are but I am constantly in pain as three of my discs have gone in my spine and 2 in my neck. I also have Type 2 diabetes, High cholesterol, high blood pressure and Tinnitus. Yet I was also turned down and even went to a tribunal and failed. I have now applied again for the 5th time. So Yes you dam well do need D.L.A Ann. Don't give up. If junkies and Alcoholics can get it, why should genuinely disabled people get it?
Lynda.
