Hello Ann, if you use a wheelchair outdoors and need a stair lift then my advice would be to appeal the refusal to pay you DLA. You can ask for help with this from the BLF, Age Concern, CAB, etc. They would probably be of more use than an MP in this instance. Good luck.
Mmm MP could be worth trying. When my mother was 80 she was being evicted from her flat and turned down by a housing association as 'not being needy enough'. I wrote to my MP (lib/dem) and within a week she was given a flat by the association!
He must have pulled some strings.

I sent a long letter to my MP, explaining my worries over the new PIP, and more importantly the upcoming Atos interviews. I received a letter from my MP, advising he had written to the MP in charge of the DSS, and would pass my letter on to the relevant MoP. Several days later I received a letter from the relevant MP. He basically sent me a (I guess) a much used reply, saying he couldn't comment on my own case, and yes, Atos would be involved, but dont worry they are very professional. I could go on and reprint the letters, but my point is contacting your mp wont do much good, youll get a response but unfortunately their hands are tied, and cant actually do anything. Hope Ive explained this correctly, and my advice would be dont bother, it wont count for anything, and youll only get a standard reply.
"blue" cant see the relevance. Sorry.
Don't rely on any MP. The main political parties in this country stopped listening to people generations ago.
"Red Ping or Blue Pong" makes no difference. Take the advice of others here above.
I have to contradict many of you as over the last few years my MP has been very helpful on issues I have raised
It broadens the experience with different views being put forward, in the old saying I might not agree with your view but will fight to the death for your right to say it.
Hi Ann, i done this and have similar to yourself, sciatica, gout, spinal stenosis, and copd, but i did so to complain about the amount of us in this condition being turned down and atos, dreadful assesments and lies that are written,
He did contact them and point out as he put it the discrepencies, from he saw himself to what atos wrote, and they did write bk saying was difficult case!
SO IN MY EXPERIENCE BEST OFF GETTING INTOUCH WITH CAB!
Otherwise you will be burning yourself out chasing around different people hun xx
i would contact my MP but also ask for reveiw /appeal against the decision as it appears to be incorrect and you dont want to lose your right of appeal by running out of time while contacting others who can help, there may even be a disability rights group in your area who could help with advice. In my town we have a local law centre who can advise on all aspects of claiming benefits and is free. Some solicitors give initial benefits advice free just like CAB and can often give an appointment quicker than CAB.Hope the info is of help
Ann from my home town, lol. Sorry not the reply you want. I had no end of trouble getting my DLA accepted, Mainly because of myself and a GP that had been miss diagnosing me for years. Why it was my fault was because I was pig headed, I could any form in, not stupid, Wrong, Just to had to that Ann I have lots of people on my wall who I help and support but each time I have someone asking about DLA or any Benefits I recommend the BLF's Help Line and each one came back thanking me and was in receipt of the Benefit they were after, My GP is the very first person the DLA contacted. This GP had made three diagnoses on me over about 8 years, Bearing in mind Ann My last two Diagnoses I was coughing up lots of blood, Ist I had was Asthma, then it changed to industrial Asthma because I was a Miner, Then the best of all was "Well you have been working on the coal face for 30 years what do you expect? Your body is trying to slow down and you won't allow it to" Wow. The DLA wrote to him asking how far does he think I could walk with out being under duress? Straight away 100 metrs, Yes I lost my Claim. My Consultant was invited to speak at my Breathe Easy Group. He asked if I was receiving and Why not. He actually phoned the DLA people and explained that he had all my stats from the test he had done on me.He was so disappointed and actually said they seemed to be accusing him of Lying. Yes a member of the Staff at the DLA who phoned me up regular agreed with me that I warrented it. and through this lady I carried on with my fight until it was left to going for appeal. I said no yes being naive I said if I couldn't qualify even after my Consultant had contacted them in my favour Yes I received a copy of his and my GP's report for my appeal. Because of this Lady pushing me into Appeal Yes I received everything I had asked for? Ann This is your next step not your MP yes Like I read earlier, I have one of the best fighting MP's in Parliment and I received the same message my comments would be Passed on. At the Appeal Ann you have a qualified DR a solicitor and some on from Disabilities, The DR asked me a couple of questions before saying to the Solicitor. " I have witnessed enough I have no more Questions" the lady from disabilities asked me a couple of Questions Yes I had her so wrong, LOL sorry Ann but it is a Rotherham term. I thought she was a snotty upstart yes I was so wrong she was infact helping me, I needed to go out of the room. A few minutes later I was beckoned in for the Verdict yes in my favour with two of the 3 people saying it should never have got to them. So we have someone who as never seen you, never heard your voice or anything, is the one going to make the decision. Ann keep at it right up to Appeal and when the qualified people see you for the first time You will get you Benefits you rightly deserve. But Please never in the first place try going it alone, Get help and advice Yes the BLF Help Line like I said is a great help. Hope I have been of some help. Take care and keep at them. My Rotherham friend.
hi thankyou so much for your reply i have asked for a reconsideration. and my doctor has written a report but the thing is she sent a good report in in the first place its seems they are disregarding my doctor in favor of the atos doctor but to be honest i dont think i gave him much info i just answered his questions he didnt ask me who helps me dress etc i just took it for granted he new. also dial filled in my forms. to be honest i coudnt even read his writing

I leave politics out of any comments I make on this board. I dont respect any of them. People react differently . You probably have more knowledge than me - I stick to talking about the weather. Speaking of the weather, how are you coping with this weather. It has me coughing. .
