Who do you think should receive a New Years Honour?

Perhaps you would choose someone like Janice Hartley who has worked for the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) for 35 years and, earlier this year, received recognition for her achievements and was made a Companion of the Order of the Bath for “services to the Development of Universal Credit” .

At the DWP, she is the department’s implementation and delivery director for the Universal Credit Programme that has combined various benefits into one payment for customers, and we all know what a disaster this has turned out to be.

Nineteen staff from across the DWP received awards in the Queen's June honours list after going above and beyond their duties and making a real difference in claimants day to day lives.

So who would you choose?

All the women born in the 1950's who are being made to pay for the bankers mistakes, the Govt's. failed austerity plans, and the big companies, the celebs, and the rich people who refuse to pay their full taxes.

I'm with you there cheated by this government I was born in October 53 my friend in March she received hers in 2016 I have to wait to July next year how is that fair. To make it even worse I had just before they changed it again paid some of my savings to top up my stamps which I would not have done if I had known they were going to move the goal posts yet again - disgraceful - Labour has I believe committed to compensating us so roll on the next election and lets get rid of this shameful lot not just for us but for all the people they have cheated in other areas xxx

I have a friend 10 months older who got hers at 63. I have to wait until 65 and 4 months. Ridiculous. x

Hi Undine, I see where you're coming from. My wife was born April 1959 and missed getting her pension at 60 by just a few months - she now has to wait until she's 67. What justice is this? How many thousands of pounds will she have been robbed of by this? - by my estimate at least £70,000.

All the best to you for a Super New Year. 😠 😠 😠 🙋

sorry to hear about your wife - I feel they (the government) took money from me in the form of stamps under false pretences as they did to your wife too- my contract with them was I believe that I would pay my stamps and get my pension at 60 - any alteration of this without my permission or even consultation reeks of sharp practice that no company would surely be allowed to do. i just hope now to live long enough to draw at least some of it - whatever Happy New Year to you too xx

My wife has exactly the same sentiments as you. I am 10 years older than my wife and, fortunately, do get the state pension and also a private works pension that I saved into for over 20 years, if not for these sources of income we would be in dire straits. Lets hope that the powers-that-be have a re-think on this diabolical penalisation of hard working women and recant on what they have implimented. Here's to a better New Year and to a future more caring government, regardless of what political party they represent.

LLAP, Eric 👌🙋
