Go Scotland, lead the way.

Well done Sainsburys. And what they may lose in profit they will gain in this being given press space.

Fantastic news. I wonder how many will follow..

When I see them on sale, my first thought is always 'Ow Mooch?' (Said in a Yorkshire accent).

brilliant they should be banned everywhere hope Wales Sainsbury follow suit. Plenty, plenty people smoke in Cardiff, something to do with being one of the poorest places to live in the UK. Ironic really, cos fags are so expensive.

Before giving up, the new game was to think up the brand of the least popular tobacco and then watching the poor sales clerk having to search for it. P.S. do not try this on a lottery day..!

Fantastic news, knew it would happen one day. Just need the rest of the nation to muck in including the Goverment.

Well, it is the Scottish Government who have caused this, as they have imposed a new levy that would have hit the profits of the supermarket heavily if they continue to stock tobacco and alcohol. Perhaps the Scottish powers that be were hoping that the big retailers would just pay up, instead of closing the baccy counter like this.

THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD SHUT THE FACTORIES. lungs weren't designed for smoke,

in reply to davidbryn

Agreed David. However they are not going to do this because of the money they make in taxes and they are too short-sighted to see how much extra it costs in health care.

Goverment man slaughter them, they know what smoking does and what is in those fags but still they allow them to be sold and made and the take a hefty chunk of tax from it.
