The short answer is yes, you can claim benefits if you receive a pension, state or otherwise.
Obviously it depends on what you are claiming and if the powers that be believe you, as I've found myself. Some useful info at adviceguide.org.uk/england/...
Ask at Citizens advice they are very helpful and will help with forms if there are any (usual it is in jargon) to fill in.
Keep warm and well Lib
I dont get a full pension, i get £73 a week, I cant claim carers allowance or they will deduct it from richards attendance allowance so not worth it.
Hi Libby. Depending on your circumstances you might get pension credits, housing benefit and council tax benefit. You also might get free presriptions, free dental and free glasses. And others I am not sure of.
Had a look at the website gordon mentioned. Not much luck, going o get £200 fuel allowance, free prescriptions and free bus pass and that's it - the nearest bus stop is 4 miles away !

You can claim pension credits if you do not get the full pension. Once awarded this will mean if you rent your house that will be paid, as will council tax. Google pension credits and get claiming. Does not take long to get awarded. Best of luck. Oh and you will also get the cold weather fuel allowance should we get severe weather.
Thanks derrylynne, will have a go.
Hi Libbygood
Yes there are benefits you can claim for - there are non means tested benefits for peolpe who are ill and/or disabled and have difficulties with their personal care and mobility.
There are also benefits which are means tested.
Please give us a call here on the helpline - we are more than happy to advise.
Best Wishes
