It sounds like the consultant is concerned that your immune system is not coping. This is quite wide ranging, covering a lot of major organs and tissues in the body, not just the ability to fend off a common cold.

You don't say what kind of pain, or where, but that co-codamol isn't doing much to help. It's always best to get proper advice, try NHS direct or even your GP's emergency service if the pain is bad.

Perhaps have a chat with the BLF helpline staff to see what they can suggest too.

It does not sound good at all, as I suggested above, please seek expert advice on this to try and sort something out.

I'm not a big fan of acupuncture but know it can help in some cases.

Hi Rosie, I go to an immunologist every 2 months at the moment as this is the time of yr our immune systems may need a boost. Last month I had moore injections for immunity to phneumonia as my blood tests showed immunity had dropped. There is nothing to worry about my immunolist is very kind and the only thing (apart from imformation about my health) he does to make notes check me over and take blood tests. If the bloods tell him I need anything I take the innoculation. Very simple really. I am glad I am getting looked after. Good luck and if you have any other questions send me a blog. Take care Maximonkey.

I'm a bit confused I've been to an immunologist because of my autoimmune disese I didn't know that an immunologist would look after someone with COPD.

If the patient is having breakdown of their immune system then yes, it makes sense...? It does not have to be directly related to COPD.

I just popped a link to en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obstr... on another blog at blf.healthunlocked.com/ques...

Bronchiectasis is a lung disease but, like Asthma, is not included in COPD.

I'm confused at spelling the names, never mind figuring these things out ;-)

Thanks Gordon they were very interesting links I'm going to try the tip about using my reliever inhaler a while before I use my seretide and spiriva to see if it helps at the moment I'm struggling.
