What an end to last year. I was vomiting blood from 3am on boxing day . My husband called an ambulance . I had emergency surgery for a burst stomach ulcer after losing 5 pints of blood.I then got C Diff . Flu and pneumonia while in hospital.
What an end to the year. I got home on the 10th jan and I still feel very weak.
That was my 6th operation last year. And 2nd emergency one . So I'm really hoping this year is going to be better.
Happy new year to you all.

My word you have been through it. Typical catching something in hospital, you couldn't make it up could you. Let's hope 2025 is good for you and everyone else on the forum. 😉
Thank you so much for your kindness. I know what you mean, it kept far too warm in hospital, for spreading germs about. But at least I’m still alive and home at last. All the best to you too x
What a nightmare Jools. So sorry to hear this. It must have been very painful. I am glad you are home now. Please take it slow and take care. I hope this year will be a better one for you. xx 🌿
It will take time rest as much as possible 💕 you’ve had a lot of surgeries in one year aswell as other health concerns take it easy one day at a time thinking of you 😊xxx
Thank you. I know it's going to take time. But I just feel so useless and exhausted even having a shower . But I guess it takes time . Thanks for caring xx
your welcome anytime 😊I think it’s the frustration aswell that gets to people when they’ve been ill you just want to get back to your normal self 😊 take care tomorrow is a new day xxx
what a terrible time you’ve had made worse by catching illnesses in hospital who were supposed to get you better. I hope you recover very soon and 2025 will be better for you
Sorry to hear you’ve been so seriously ill. I imagine you’ll feel weak for some time - ie months - after all that, so my advice would be to think in baby steps. I’m very concerned to hear you contracted c.diff in hospital. This is never acceptable and the result of poor hygiene & infection control. If you’ve got the energy, please involve PALS. The ward should be conducting an enquiry.
Take it very gently now, dear, and yes, good riddance to 2024!
Nothing like your own home is there, especially your own bed! Last time I was in my (brand new) local hospital, in Oct, I found the bed terribly uncomfortable, I woke every day with backache. The Brompton, where I usually go, has wonderful beds.
At least it’s winter, so you might as well be at home in the warm! I always resent being ill in summer. Anyway I’ll stop rambling now - don’t reply, just rest & get better 🥰
2024 was the worse Year ever for my family and myself.. Hoping 2025 will be a good year for us all.You have been through the mill so the only way is up now.. wishing you good health .
How awful for you! It must have been a very traumatic experience at the end of what sounds like a rotten year. I really hope 2025 brings you better health and happier times.
how awful for you, that is grim, do hope you are back on the mend, Do look after yourself now, lots of rest and treats, and rebuild your strength up again Sally xx
What a terrible year for you, I really hope 2025 is a good year so that you can recover and get back to some kind of normal. My mum had a burst duodenal ulcer one year at Christmas, it was awful, she ended up on a trolley in the corrider for hours. Get plenty of rest , take good care x
Thank you. I feel i was lucky to get straight into surgery. To stop the bleeding. It was very scary for my husband and daughters to see me like that. But hopefully I'll get well soon. . Thank goodness your mum got sorted too . Best wishes to you all xx
Wow! And e complain about a cold dragging on for a few weeks. Take care, and New Year`s resolution should be stay away from hospitals. Have a good day/year, Chris.
My wife has the dilemma of choosing what bit to have serviced next. Cataract removal or operation to correct severe deformity of foot due to arthritis. Her decision for now is get the eye done, as there is no point in being able to walk better if she can`t see where she is going. Sounds logical, as she is very wary of any sort of anaesthetic due to bronchiectasis compounded by having had Oink disease i.e. mercury poisoning as a baby. This has left nerve damage and local anaesthetics don`t always work. Must stop and go and collect her from the Physio`s. Cheers, Chris.
What a dreadful experience. No wonder you’re glad to see the back of 2024. Thank goodness you are home now so just rest & take it easy. 🤞2025 is a good year for you x
Oh my goodness, what a truly awful time you've had! Really support Jane's excellent suggestion to contact PALS and please do copy in your MP/local councillors if you can manage it. I think many of us here can say
"Close the door on twenty-four
Decide to thrive, in twenty-five!"
Sending warmest wishes for a far better year for you. xxxx
