Well yes they usually will put it off if you have a cold or infection. However I went last week with a confirmed culture of Haemophylus Influenzae which was resistent to the antibiotics my consultant had given me. My gp changed my abs and gave me the flue jab himself there and then saying the sooner the better. So it's a weird one. Best if in doubt to contact your gp as I think it depends on your condition as to which is the better of two evils.
Hope you're feeling better soon Perce.

I told the Doc on Monday I had a Flu jab booked in and he said it should be OK but Nurse
who coincidently is my COPD nurse wouldn't have non of it, I tend to trust her as she is pretty tip top on most stuff. I am actually OK I think as I cought the infection quickly,
Keeping fingers crossed you will be feeling 100% better for flu jab on Wednesday. Its always advised not to have the flu jab if you have a cold, virus or lung infection so good that your COPD nurse was on the ball.
You are doing well Perce recovering from the Lung surgery as well. Keep up the good work.
Good wishes

The practise I go to advise not to have a flu jab within a week of a course of antibiotics as they are either treating an infection or fever.
