I'm a newby here but not to COPD

Hi Everyone. I have a greyhound who makes me want to wake up in the morning. I had a really bad exacerbation just before Christmas and I'm now on oxygen. What a pain that is. However I have several hobbies that I can do sitting down. I'll check in again soon.

What an attractive greyhound. 😀

Thank you. I think he is very handsome. He was 11 a couple of days ago.

Did he ever race? I used to work at White City many moons ago so that's why I wondered. 😀

Yes, he raced at Romford and won a fair number of races. I adopted him and his brother Scooter when they both retired.

I'm glad he now has a very happy home in his retirement. 😀

Hi

I can sure relate to your name! Nice to meet you.

Fidget is the name of my greyhound. Scooter was his brother. Sadly I lost him last year.

Hi

Love the picture of Fidget as I'm very fond of greyhounds. My father used to breed them and race them when I was a little girl ( now 68).

What a great companion for you,

Best wishes

Corin

Thank you. I wish I had homed greyhounds years ago rather than leave it to when I'm old and doddery.

What a gorgeous boy you have there, and 11 years is a quite remarkable age for him! We had to part with our beautiful blue-grey girl, two years ago, after she had a stroke? A proud, gentle, retired ex-racer girl we named Daisy May (or may not - depending how she felt? 😉). We miss her. 😭

Welcome. You'll find many of us on HealthUnlocked who have 'sitting down hobbies'...? 👌

I have always been involved in the craft industry but in recent years I have returned to my first love which is drawing. Guess what, I now draw dogs. I would pop up a picture but I haven't worked out how to do that yet!!!

I have now added a drawing that I did onto another post about hobbies.

Welcome. Love Fidget. My friend has a greyhound called Freddie whose racing life was quickly over as he didn't like other dogs behind him, so he was always last in a race.

Hi fidget,

Welcome to the forum. Scooter is a lovely dog. Our friends had a rescue greyhound for years and it was a lovely dog and a great companion. I have two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels who also make me want to get up.

Please tell us more about yourself when you feel up to it. xx

Fidget is the one in the photo. I am 69 but in a 25 year old's body. I hate being on oxygen because Fidget will sometimes stand on the trailing airline! That's fun!! Since I came out of hospital just before Christmas my brain has gone into " I'll only work sometimes " mode. This of course is most inconvenient as I can only manage short bursts of concentration when I'm drawing. Hopefully it will behave as the year goes on. I want to do some more craft fairs if I can, but it is a huge logistics problem as I need a sitter for Fidget and a lift to wherever I'm going as I don't drive. More later!!!

Sorry for mixing the names up. You sound to have a great attitude, I’m sure you will get to some of those craft fairs. I’m no artist but I make cards, I’ve recently started quilting and I’ve been doing genealogy for 25 years. Xx

I should have said that I am 69, feel like 90 but my brain is 25!!!! If I didn't laugh about all this I would cry. x

They are indeed.

Welcome to the forum to you and Fidget, it's a great pity Scooter couldn't join us too. I have a Jack Russell who performs the same function for me as Fidget does for you. 😉

Well fidgetandscooter that surely is a wonderful reason to get up in the morning. He must be a wonderful companion to you. There is so much trust in those eyes.

I have to say I am a tad envious.

Wishing you well.

Fidget and I are always together. I am trying to teach him to walk beside my scooter but I think I need to get a lunge line so he has a bit more length.

Thank you. Mine crept up on me for the first few years but then suddenly whoosh I have become a lump of lard stuck in a chair whenever I go out. Good luck to your brother and I'm sorry about your Mum.
