Morning, can anyone please tell me how long it took to go from moderate to severe copd? Im sure its different for everyone but I just want a rough idea. Also if anyone takes seretide 250 did it help and if so in what ways?

Thank you, Kay x6

Hi omg . . I imagine you will probably get a better answer than mine, but I don't think you can put a time on it, imo it depends on how many chest infections you get over the years and how acute they are. It could be that your immune system will fight them off for many years to come. Try not to worry to much. Keep fit and eat healthy,

When I was diagnosed it was straight into very severe emphysema. It can take years to get like that. It can go unnoticed if you smoke, even if it's severe, as people think they just have a " smokers cough ".

Flower power ! :)

Made a big mistake...had very severe asthma attack (hospital admission). Later diagnosed with copd (mild) in 2000.

Continued to smoke, self-denial that I was slowly getting worse. Another severe asthma attack followed 9 years later

and diagnosed severe copd and asthma (not broncial) earlier this year. Needless to say I quit smoking 5 years ago x

I do take seritide 250 as from 2 days ago I was on the lower dose 125, but doc upped it, and I do feel a lot better not so out of breath......... Im severe but I never asked until last tues, so I cant say even if I was moderate, I gave up smoking 2 years well be 3 years end of this year, but I did continue to smoke for 2 years after I was diagnosed, well I was smoking for 50 years, but im still here, I also have asthma,..... I have heard people with copd are like a creaky doors, suppose it means we hang on and on like the hinges on the door, but hey ho we are all so very different, there was a man who had lost %70 lung capacity and still worked full time a heavy job and still continued into his retirement another 5 years, so mehtinks it how one copes with it, (and that man was my first husband) and he did smoke very heavy with the full strength fags.

I myself am a plodder, I just keep plodding on and on...... take care Joan x

Isabelle gives good advice.

If you still smoke you will get there quicker.

If you don't smoke you may avoid getting there.
