Oxygen in France

I may be going on holiday to Normandy in May, staying in a gîte. I’m on oxygen 24/7 and have a portable concentrator for journeys and days out. However, I need a static concentrator for in the gîte and overnight for my ventilator.

Has anyone hired a concentrator in France? Does anyone have any advice or recommendations on how to do this?

Many thanks.

Hi, Are you going with the car?

Will you be staying in a holiday home/gite ?

Hi, yes we would be going in the car and would be hiring a gîte.

Two choices as far as I can tell.Ask the owner of the gite if they can help.

Find out if there is a pharmacy/chemist in the nearest town and contact them and ask if they can help, normally they are very helpful.

You could also contact a pharmacy in the place you arrive.

Unless you are really lucky you will need to speak French. So you could use Google translate and email them if you don't speak French.

I speak French so if you get really stuck repost on here and I'll see if I can find out more.

Thank you for this. I do speak French, but that is very kind of you. I shall do some investigating. Unfortunately oxygen companies in the UK don't allow their equipment to leave the country. A monthly rental - yikes! But thank you so much for your help.

In that case I'd try to contact the local pharmacy as it is probably an easier option 😉 and they may be able to offer you something just for your holiday.I hope you manage to find one for your holiday and have a great time

Bonne vacances

I will do some research and see what I can find. Thank you again!

I've had a look online and I can only find things for a monthly rental and it seems quite expensive. It's not easy to find much so I'd go back to what I said previously.

If you can hire one in the UK to bring across it might be another option.

We have a member on here that lives in France whose wife has lung disease, perhaps send him a message and he may be able to help. His member name is Lissacfrance x
