Hi Trevor, I wish I could answer your question for you. I, too am on that route and have done PR, lung function tests, bloods and a CT scan. Unfortunately, they found a couple of nodules in the CT and took me off "the route" pending further investigations. Well, the follow up came out clear (thank goodness!), but I am having problems getting back on that list! No-one is owning up to being the right person to talk to 🙄, and my doctor has a "family emergency" so is off indefinitely! Next stop my London specialist methinks.
Very interested to see what answers you get, and also hearing about how your journey evolves.
I had my LVR at Royal Papworth jut one month (luckily) prior to COVID lockdown and it has worked wonders for me. However if you are offered the op grab it with both hands but be be ready for the time it takes for your recovery. Full rest is needed
Really good to hear it has helped you 😊 I wonder if you would mind telling me / us a little more about your recovery, was it painful, length of time etc. . . Thank you in advance xx
I was not in any pain but it is major surgery and the body has to recover. I was coughing quite a bit but the surgeon said it's natural part of the remaining lung improvement. All in all it took me about 5 months full recovery but after the 11st Month I could feel the difference
Thank you so much for taking the time to reply, much appreciated. That’s quite some time isn’t it. As I live alone I will have to make sure I have backup from the family!
Yes, I heard the first 10 days uncomfortable, I am very lucky as I am going straight to rehab , local for 2 weeks after I get discharged . Am just waiting now if the last 2 tests helped me get the surgery, after 3 yrs I will be upset if am declined .
I’ve looked up to see what LVR is. Having found out, I’m sending you best wishes for the ‘journey’. I've got emphysema but it’s not yet progressed to the stage where Lung Volume Reduction would be considered.
I got taken off the program unfortunately, but before I did, the only thing I had in addition was an echocardiogram. I do with you very good luck with getting the LVR. xx
Good luck with everything moving forward, I was recommended for this by the doctors at Royal Brompton when I went last November for tests for a different trial that I unfortunately wasn’t suitable for, I have since received a copy of a letter that was sent to my doctor in December recommending that I have this done, haven’t heard anything yet from my doctor but I’m sceptical that I will hear, I’m giving him the benefit of doubt but will start chasing it up soon as I don’t think he will get it done here, they were great at Royal Brompton, made me wish they were my doctors rather than here in Plymouth, keep us posted on your progress 😊
