LVR Operation

Home now since Friday after my operation and feeling very tired but not much pain at all. I had the two drainage tubes removed prior to discharge and I will not hide the fact that this was the most painful of all. Its going to take a while to build up my strength and only time can time just how successful the procedure will but whatever the outcome the operation was badly needed

Glad to hear you are home, take it easy for the first couple of weeks and give your body time to heal.hopefully a long slow and careful recovery will be rewarded with more efficient lungs and a far better quality of life.wishing you the best in that process.

Those chest drains are rediculously pain full I don’t know why they can’t put you under I’d rather have a baby than go through that again

Glad to hear that you are home. Now comes the hard part that is making sure you give your body the time it needs to recover. It’s so easy as we start to feel better to overdo things and wonder why we have set backs . Be kind to yourself and take it easy.

As far as I'm aware they never do both lungs at the same time when carrying out LVR/VATS

Hi Will57 good to here that the operation has gone well & I wish you all the best for a much improved lifestyle. Can I ask what made you decide to go ahead with the LRS, I have delayed my LRS because of being unsure of the benefits against the risk of being worse.I'm not on oxygen but only have a lung volume around 27 %, but manage to keep reasonably mobile .Take Care Mike

After listening to consultant and surgeon and GP it was evident i needed some procedure and all advised the LVR. I am not on oxygen but hospitalized 6 times in 2 years clearly showed i needed help in some shape or form

Super news to read you've now got your op over and are at home with the instructions of taking it easy to regain your strength but also not to retire to one's bed for a fortnight! I'd imagine that this next stage of your body recovering and adapting to its new LVRS is to some extent, knowing when you are ready to up the anti and push yourself gently forward and see the benefits of your surgery. I wish you all the very best and look forward to reading how you are managing.

Gentle hugs x🐿
