anxiety
Hi Carole, my husband Pete can’t get on with Fostair and doesn’t use it. He is prescribed it but it makes him choke. Speak to whoever prescribed it for you and see if you can get an alternative.
Best wishes, Carole xxx
Hello Barneybeat, Thankfully no, this doesn't happen to me. I've been on the spray type (MDI) several years and find it perfect for me. You could check out the video on the manufacturer's website to ensure you're taking it correctly. Do you use the MDI or the powder version? And which dose? And if MDI do you use a spacer with it?
There is a helpline for professional advice open 09.15 to 5pm Mon to Friday choose option 3.
The hospital recommended Fostair for me as I didn't get on with the powder inhaler and the chemist gave me Luforbec, it didn't do anything for me so was put back on Fostair Nexthaler. I did ask for Fostair non powdered but they said they don't do it anymore x
That’s strange hope you ok on the fostair
How peculiar Izb1, no-one has told me that and I still get mine 😬 so it definitely exists.
I wonder if its cheaper and that's why it has been replaced, well it has at my local pharmacy. It's a shame because when I started Fostair Nexthaler it was brilliant, it stopped my wheezing and i had less mucus, then the cough started it has been a nuisance ever since and I am sure it's because of the powder. I just hope I can find a replacement that works x
I dearly hope you can Izb, its so maddening when they switch about regardless of our needs grrrr. There are quite a few posts about being swapped from Fostair to Luforbec here & on asthma forum. Most are lucky enough to be swapped back when it doesn't work. Medics are insisting that they're the same but they definitely aren't, the filler or propellant is different & making some cough more. Good luck. P××
I'm fine on it but I'd ring Yr pharmacist, see what they advise.yr gp may prescribe an alternative for you.there r a lot of other inhalers,so hopefully u will b OK on a different one
Hi Carole, I get very anxious. Thought it was because I have such trouble breathing but maybe it's the Fostairs inhaler. Spoke to the Resp. nurse at GP's surgery today and she is going to try me on a different inhaler. Not because of my anxiety but because my breathing is so bad (and I have swollen legs & feet) I can't walk more than a few steps now. Maybe this will help with the anxiety which of course makes it even harder to breathe. Take care xxx
So pleased you got seen so quickly that’s a great start I will be interested to hear how you get on good luck hun x
Has she listened to yr chest and have u put a mucous sample in Nula2? Perhaps yr in middle of exacerbation & need rescue meds? It does read that way.just a thought. If you haven't already, looked at controlled breathing techniques on aluk website.it does help when anxious, walking, stairs etc x x
Hi Pat, thanks for taking the time to give me the tips. I haven't put in a mucus sample will do that if new inhaler makes no difference. Will look on website to remind me of the breathing techniques. I know that's part of my problem. I'm getting better at all the different methods needed for using inhaler, nebuliser etc, but I know I breathe too fast and too shallow. Thank you and take care 😊❤️xxxx
Hi there Barnybeat. I get anxiety from Symbicort and tried Foxair but the same. It almost feels like a panic attack with racing heart and shaky hands . I don't use it when I go to functions but then take a sedative to stop the shiver. At my wits end because primidone may help but very expensive here in South Africa. Hope you can get help and please let me know if you do.
It could be the long acting reliever in it, it’s aimed at the beta receptors in the lungs but due to gaseous exchange some gets in the bloodstream and the beta receptors in the heart react to it, causing tremor and panicky feeling. Some people seem to be more sensitive to it than others. See your resp nurse or gp to help you out with alternative. Take care 🦊x
Not me, I like it, seems to be more effective that becliforte. That's bad luck for you ☹️
