I boil water and let it cool. Add a small amount of Baking powder. Rinse mouth and always gargle. Suggested by my Rheumy. I also eat yogurt and hold it in my mouth swiss around. Always plain, low fat. Good luck.

Note yogurt is not at the same time. A few hours later .

SORRY INCORRECT !!!!!! just checked my cupboard and this taken off my letter- " try bicarbonate from cupboard 1 teaspoon, half teaspoon salt and a pint of boiled water in a jug and mix up to use, use as a mouth wash after the inhalers" Its all made up for me by my husband every morning. Sometimes we leave the salt out as it can sometimes be too much for me.

Hi Lupino. I’m assuming you already have oral thrush? If so you could try Daktarin oral thrush gel which is available over the counter or contact your GP for Nystatin which is prescription only.

Hi Patk1 , I used to use Daktarin oral gel all the time, but it's been 'unavailable due to production issues' in all my local pharmacies for around 5 months now, with no sign of it coming back. I am in North Wales. I now have to have courses of Fluconazole capsules from the GP, which of course mess my whole system up!!!

Hello Tiggertheterrier, That’s bad luck that you can’t get Daktarin gel for oral thrush. Hope these infections are not too frequent. 🤗

Hi Lupino,

I used to be bothered with oral thrush but I have found that after using my puffers (Breo Ellipta and Incruse Ellipta) I put a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in a small glass of water and gargle for 20 seconds. I have never been troubled with oral thrush since.

Good luck to you.

Hello Yendo, Thank you for your advice. Will certainly try this. 🤗

I would second Yendo’s experience. I too gargled and swished with apple cider vinegar and it got rid of the thrush on my tongue. I also gargled with baking soda and salt per my pharmo’s suggestion but the apple cider vinegar had already worked its magic. From this or another site I read caprylic acid was beneficial and yogurt definitely helps.

I also use Relvar Elipta 92/22 and as per advice from my Consultant I brush my teeth after use. I’ve never had oral thrush.

Hope this helps

I’ve used this inhaler for a few years now and have never had oral thrush with it. Just rinse mouth well and brush teeth as suggested. Hope you find this inhaler helps

Hello Cyprus Pat, Although worried about using a steroid inhaler instead of Spiolto it has helped reduce flare ups and feel better. Thanks for your advice. 🤗

I use Trimbow and find that I need to use the big spacer to prevent oral thrush. I was prescribed Nystan when in hospital but it is prescription only.

Hi Lupino. Oral thrush is miserable and I sympathise with you. My usual regime of inhalers, followed by rinsing and gargling with water then cleaning teeth works. However, if I do get an outbreak - probably because I forget to rinse- my GP writes me up for Nystatin which clears it up in no time. Hope all the advice shared on the forum works for you.

I did not know my tongue was a disgusting colour until the dental hygienist of all people saw it and showed me what looked like a black fungus from half way all the way back. She got a dentist in to check if it was an infection, it wasn't so no need for anti biotic or anti fungus, but she did recommend a tongue scraper which cost a couple of pounds from boots or super drug. I had never heard of such a thing. Google it and see yourself. I have to try and scrape as far back as I can and its difficult because at some point you wretch but persevere it works for me as far as I can see in a mirror and use most nights at bedtime. Not oral thrush I don't think but I'm sure it will help anyone with tongue staining.

hi Lupino. I had a very sore mouth for a long time until I plucked up courage and asked the Drs. They suggested using a spacer with it. It soon cleared up and I’ve been fine since at the moment touch wood.

Thank goodness you plucked up courage and asked your GP after putting up with a problem for so long. I’ll keep your suggestion in case all else fails. Stay well and safe and thank you, Mavary. 🤗
