long time!

Hello everyone! It's been ages since I posted, but I do read your posts. Just in case it helps anyone else, I just want to say, "carbocisteine! What a life saver!" I've been unwell since Christmas and on a visit to my GP she finally saw first hand how I am when I have breathing difficulties and, to her credit (despite my other misgivings) was keen to help (if somewhat belatedly) and said to try carbocisteine. I cannot believe what a help they have been. This week I ran out of tablets on Wednesday (prescribing error) and have become increasingly unwell again and last night wondered whether I needed to get to hospital. Today I picked up the tablets and have taken 2, already I can cough and therefore breathe! Why has it taken 30+ years for someone to prescribe me these wonderful tablets! Hopefully this may help someone reading.

I wasn't totally convinced until I went without then started again! The only downside I'm aware of is needing to constantly blow my nose! I daren't go without tissues! Still, rather that than breathing problems 😀

Hi, I was going to honestly says I had never heard of "carbocisteine" I realised I had but when it was called .'Mucodyne.'

I have know people on this and they swear by it really did nothing much. If it works for you great and long may it do so :-)

Hi F - glad you've found something to help. How crazy to wait 30 years - what took them so long?! It doesnt work for me but great for you. Good to hear from you. Stay well, Jean xxx

Hey! Thank you, yes Im not too bad. Main issues are investigations into choking and wretching episodes which are not lung related, but very scary. Other thing is that the scoliosis which Ive had forever without any issues has got to the point where it is regularly very painful. So physio and other stuff happening. But lung-wise Im best Ive been for a long time. Hope the carbo keeps on working for you Frose, great development. :) x

Hi chook, not sure what it's actually for but will look it up. I have copd and the one thing I am missing is a cough to clear my chest as I know for a fact when I had covid it gave me a cough and I could breath properly for the first time in ages. Glad you are breathing well when taking this. No better feeling than to breath fully. 😉👍

I agree - I was put on carbocisteine about 15 years ago and it has been a vital part of my management programme ever since. I am currently on 2x375 mcg twice a day so well short of the maximum allowed.
