Covid free test kit for - Vulnerable People from Government.

Good afternoon everyone. Can someone tell me please when the Government stopped send out Covid test kit for vulnerable people? I used to qualify for these and have a box sent to me when requested because I have no immune system.

The link I had saved from the Government website has now changed and states they no longer do this?

Kind regards

Joseph

Have you rung your chemist ? I think they might be handing them out for free if marked vulnerable. Worth a try. Good luck.

I'm afraid the government stopped handing them out over a year ago. I think they have decided that herd immunity is the way to go. They also tell you on their web site to go into work or about your normal business if you have tested positive and don't feel too ill. They are not concerned about people like us. 😠😠😠

I had to buy some , not cheap either .

But I notice the UK gov website ….check eligibility for free lateral tests is still up ….

Order COVID-19 rapid lateral flow tests .

Worth a check in case ?

I used to order lateral flow tests via gov.uk but they don’t supply anymore to anyone, not even nhs staff. Make sure any community workers entering your home wear a mask to help reduce your risk/exposure. Take care 🦊x

hi. I am vulnerable an eligible for free Covid tests because I am on biologics. I had to go to my local chemist and had to fill a piece of paper out with my name and address And then they gave me free covid tests - a pack of five. Not all chemists are participating. A Boots chemist who wasn’t participating told me to check online and charged me £10 for five tests before I found out what to do. This was very irritating.

Hi, I went to boots and took one of the letters with my saying I was venerable that had come from the government during covid and my prescription list. They said to keep this letter and bring it each time to receive a box of covid tests . Good luck,

You have to get them from the chemist. The list of conditions that qualify is on the gov website. If you qualify take some proof with you. I got some from Boots this week. I was questioned on my illnesses, medication and asked if I’d taken steroids in the past few weeks. She then asked to see a letter. After all this she said I didn’t qualify. She changed her mind when I told her you don’t come much more immune suppressed than having to inject immunoglobulin every week. Prepare to be humiliated. Good luck.

Certain chemists only

You can definitely still get them from your local chemist ( the last ones I had from the NHS site was October 23 ) although you will only get a pack of 5 . Which to be honest is a bit of a joke as it advises you to do 3 tests over 3 days if you have any symptoms. So from 1 box after first use you only have 2 left ( I wonder what fool thought that up 😂😂) .

I also purchased a pack of 25 tests from Amazon for my own peace of mind for under £20 ( 74p each ).

you can only get them at your chemist if they are in the scheme for vulnerable people, and they may ask you to prove it .

Every chemist in my area supply them , but you do have to fill in a form 👍

Why test! If you think you have covid treat yourself accordingly. Eat well, drink a lot of herbal teas, take zinc, lots of vitamin c, colodial silver, NAC etc. get lots of rest with periodic small walks. Disclaimer ;) I have not a professional in the government ran medical care. Hope things start looking up for you! 🙏🏻

Because some of us are eligable for treatment thats why we still test, as it is more dangerous to us when we catch it.

I see.. Here in the U.S. the antivirals have only received emergency use authorization from the FDA as was the covid "vaccine". Not good enough for me... Too many dangers, imo...

As someone just recovering from covid, and being at risk of serious illness, I was extremely grateful to have been given antivirals and that’s why I tested, to be able to get the antivirals in time to be effective, and wow they were very effective

I was the same could not believe how well the anti virals worked and how quickly they worked ❤️

In scotland you can still get them free online, a pack of 7 and limited to a box every 28 days which i am greatful of

my understanding is that if you are assessed as being of higher risk of serious illness from covid, pharmacy’s can issue free lateral flow test. You need to ask at your pharmacy, if possible take evidence of health conditions, although I would assume your regular pharmacy would know from your prescriptions that you likely would be higher risk. Let us know how you get on, good luck
