Has Plan B been completely scrapped?

Hello,

I was just wondering whether anyone was managing to keep up with all of the changes please? I found an article which mentions that the Government published advice dated 24th December remains in place and that people who have been identified as eligible for a third primary dose of the Covid-19 vaccine or as eligible for new treatments for Covid-19 to continue to read and follow said guidance;

Thank you as always 😊

Hello D0n49, Pete is classed as CEV and yesterday he had his 4th Pfizer jab. We are carrying on mask wearing, staying distant from others, and hand hygiene. We try to go out at quieter times and see family and friends as safely as possible. Just do what’s right for you regardless of others. Xxxx💜

Hi Sassy - was Pete contacted to get the 3rd and 4th jabs, or did he need to apply himself?

Hi Dedalus, Pete received a letter and rang our surgery to ask what he had to do. He was prompted to ring another number and had a walk in appointment yesterday. All good. Xxxx

Thank you for that sassy - good to know. I'm seeing cardiologist tomorrow so I'll ask her if she thinks I should be on list for further jabs. Hope all well with you and Pete xxxx

I would love that luxury, but looks like I will have no choice but to go back into the office - anxiety is through the roof!!!

Hope you are both keeping safe and well xx

Yes I can understand that D0n . It sounds really scary. We’re doing our best thank you. Take care xxx

I find the government's pronouncements totally confusing. I hope your colleagues are aware of your condition and prepared to be as helpful as poss. I'm afraid not everyone understands our hidden disability. Take care. xxx

Thank you Alberta56. Unfortunately my workplace are very pro-office, discussions are taking place with HR, but with the Government potentially lifting all COVID measures I don’t have a leg to stand on.

Finding it frustrating to be told I just have to live with it by people who have not had it/are living with the aftermath 🥺

I hope you are managing to stay safe and well!

Do the people at your office accept everything the government tells them? Yesterday, or was it the day before, it said on the news that businesses were very unhappy about the result of Brexit, (more delays, difficulty getting parts, much more paperwork); neither people nor their employers are very happy about national insurance going up; the gov are doing very little to help with the hike in fuel prices. That's off the top of my head. Tell them all the things that show the gov is not infallible and they might just begin to grasp that you might have a point about covid. After all you know more about it than they do and you wouldn't wish it on any one of them. Recently I bellowed CEV, CEV at a group of very nice, civilised people I was with, who were all preparing to throw away their masks, 'remember the vulnerable.' Hope it had some effect. Good luck with your office people -hope you can get them to see reason.🤞🤞

Both my wife and I are CEV. I am also eligible for the New treatments and have my priority PCR test kit, Reassuringly I am part of an ONS study into immunity which so far as proved I have good levels of immunity. From my understanding the study will provide a basis for further boosters in our group. Like Sassy, Tracey and I are still protecting ourselves with masks etc and regular LFT. Hopefully in the coming year I hope that the situation may change for the better given the implications of Omicron and herd immunity.

I am also on the ONS survey I was disappointed to hear these are finishing in April

Oh wow! Would love to know if my parents had immunity - hoping they do having had COVID + vaccinations 🤞🏻

Take care!

There seems to be a lot of discrepencies as to who has the 4th vaccinne . I was registered and a freind as CEV but neither of us have been offered a fourth jab. that's just two out of thousands. I'm still remaining distant and wearing a mask where necessary although I am exempt due to my lung illness. Think we all need to stay aware of our need to take care. Stay safe and warm

in reply tokatieoxo60

I'm the same as you katie. We seem to have dropped out of sight.

Hi Littlepom, funny you should say that , I was thinking that myself as if I am lost in the mire of Covid 19 even my Gp when contacted due to a crisis said but we haven't been seeing you for some time. Because I am at a training practice I rarely see my practice GPs and of course the virus has added to our NHS isolation. I don't know if I'm supposed to have a fourth jab as I thought it was only for the immune suppressed . Well have to do some probing and see what I can find . Have a good day I'm on ambilatury BP today, maybe this might sort one problem if nowt else as they say .

in reply tokatieoxo60

Yes I thought that it was only for the immuno suppressed but some CEV seem to be getting it. I haven’t seen or heard from my GP since 2019 and am hardly likely to do so now as he is a close personal friend of the cardiologist who almost killed me last June and against whom there is now an official complaint from me and a formal Trust investigation. Makes you feel secure doesn’t it ! NOT

Hi again Littlepom, I think it might be the same in my case a complaint in progress about unprofressional practice by certain persons and proven as in your case. I had forgot our similar experiences. Just have to wait and see what happens in the coming weeks re plan B

How interesting. I don't like to believe in cospiracy theories but 🤨

My NHS invitation letter for 4 th vaccine dose .

‘ We have sent you this letter as our records show you may have a medical condition or be receiving treatment that could significantly weaken your immune system ‘

‘ Experts recommend that people with a severely weakened immune system have a 3rd primary dose followed by a booster ( 4th dose ) to get a good level of protection from COVID-19 ‘ .

I am more confused now as had 2Pfizers followed by Pfizer booster in October .

So not had 3 primary doses .

I have taken low dose oral steroid for years .

in reply toknitter

I have an immune deficiency & when I went for my “3rd primary” I asked what the difference was between that & the booster & was told it was exactly the same vaccine & dose, but if you had immune problems it was being entered on the computer programme as your 3rd primary. They said I’d then get invited for a 4th, which I was (another Pfizer).

From what you say about being on low dose steroids, I don’t know why you’ve been invited for a 4th, but if you want to take it up, take your letter with you. I was asked for evidence of why I qualified for a 4th & didn’t have my letter with me, but luckily in my bag was my hospital discharge letter which mentioned the immune deficiency

I've not been invited for a 4th jab, but was warned endlessly that I'm CEV, had the food parcels from the government etc. I'm worried that with virtually no ongoing attention from my GP (except repeat prescriptions ordered online) I haven't been flagged for new drugs should I get Covid. Are people with severe COPD not classed as vulnerable anymore?

katieoxo60 profile image
katieoxo60 in reply toLiveSalt

Not sure Livesalt, whose at risk anymore or even considered to be more vulnerable. It seems that all illness except the virus have become none serious or just a word on paper. Wish it was made more clear both for the GP and ourselves. The whole system is changing and we are just a minor cog in it like many others.

A year or so before the start of the pandemic, Southampton University and their commercial arm Synairgen announced a breakthrough new treatment for (mainly) COPD and similar disease. I was so pleased because the initial trials were so promising, and I sent the info to a friend who has pretty bad COPD. Been keeping an eye out for the new drug, but there has been no mention of it if I searched for "new COPD drug, Southampton" since Covid appeared.

Sorry, only half of the relevant bit is showing! Anyway, the new drug has been co-opted over to Covid, and rollout to "ordinary" lung patients has been halted. Many years ago a lung specialist said that lung diseases weren't "sexy" and so the funding for research was dismal. Well now it seems some lung disease IS sexy, just not non-covid disease.

Ok I am so far behind with what the latest rules are as I still go by original safe rules. Looks like I need to read what the fool has said now. Sorry if this offends anyone I just have no faith in government. X
